Maryland Directory Assistance CallsNew legislation will require the Maryland Public Service Commission to allow carriers to charge
residential customers for additional directory assistance calls.

The new law will prohibit the PSC from authorizing a telephone company to charge for:

(1) The first two calls to DA made by residential customers in each monthly billing cycle; and

(2) DA calls from individuals who suffer from a physical or visual disability that
precludes the use of a telephone directory.

However, the PSC must authorize charges for other DA calls.
