US Senate

The US Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet held a hearing on the State of Wireline Communications on Thursday, July 25, 2013. The Witness Panel included Jeff Gardner, Chairman of the Board of Directors, USTelecom and President & CEO, Windstream Corporation; Shirley Bloomfield, CEO, NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association; Jerry James , CEO , COMPTEL – The Competitive Communications Association; Larry Downes Internet Industry Analyst and Author; and Gigi Sohn, President and CEO, Public Knowledge. NARUC

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ Board of Directors adopted four telecommunications resolutions at its Summer Committee Meetings in Denver, Colorado. The resolutions address: Numbering Trials For VoIP and Other IP-enabled services; Improving the Lifeline Annual Recertification Process; the Development of National and State Policies to Ensure Reliable Wireline and Wireless Communications During Power Outages; and the Deployment of Formal Connect America Fund Phase II rules.
