The Regulatory Mix of state and federal telecom regulatory activitiesThe Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court, issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Regulatory Bulletin.

FCC

The FCC set the regulatory fees for Fiscal Year 2013. The Order also revised the methodology used to allocate the total amount to be collected among the various regulatory fee categories. To prevent large increases in some fee categories, the FCC capped fee increases at 7.5%. The FCC has not yet announced when the filing window for paying the fees will close. See FCC Order here.

COLORADO

The PUC has permanently suspended the effective date of a CenturyLink Next Generation 911 (NG911) tariff filing, which would introduce rates, terms, and conditions for NG911. The PUC held an informational meeting on July 30, 2013. An administrative proceeding has been opened that will provide a venue for all interested NG911 stakeholders to discuss and reach consensus or otherwise identify alternatives for key components of a statewide NG911 plan. TMI will continue to monitor and report on this proceeding.
