FCC

The FCC’s Public Safety And Homeland Security Bureau has made available various materials from its November 18, 2013 Workshop on E911 Phase II Location Accuracy. This includes a webcast of the workshop as well as copies of the slide presentations used during the workshop. FCC

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s most recent blog post says “it is time to act with dispatch” on IP transition issues. According to his blog, the FCC’s Technology Transitions Policy Task Force will make a presentation at the FCC’s December 12, 2013, Open Meeting “with the expectation that the January meeting will include consideration of an Order for immediate action.” See upcoming TMI Blog for more details.

 

California

The PUC released a PROPOSED Decision granting the request for approval of an area code overlay utilizing the 628 area code for the 415 numbering plan area with a 13-month implementation schedule. The overlay plan would include a February 2014 start date for customer education and network preparation. The proposal is scheduled for hearing during the PUC’s December 19, 2013, Business Meeting.

 

 

Georgia

The Georgia PSC has increased the Universal Access Fund (UAF) contribution factor. Due to factors such as reduced revenues of contributing companies and increased disbursements from the UAF, the PSC found it necessary to raise the contribution factor.  See TMI Bulletin dated 11/14/13.
