The Regulatory Mix

The Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court, issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Regulatory Bulletin.

Pennsylvania

The PUC is requesting comments on proposed regulation changes that will reduce the time it takes to change electricity suppliers. The comments, due March 25, 2014, will be considered as part of an expedited rulemaking proceeding where the Commission will require electric distribution companies (EDCs) to further reduce the time it takes for consumers to switch electric suppliers. See Press Release for more details and link to proposed rules.

FCC

The FCC released the final agenda for the Rural Broadband workshop scheduled for March 19, 2014. The FCC will provide audio and/or video coverage of the meeting over the Internet at http://www.fcc.gov/live. Viewers may submit questions by e-mail to livequestions@fcc.gov and/or via Twitter at #FCCRuralBroadband. Updates to the agenda, as well as panelist materials, will be available on the workshop’s website at http://www.fcc.gov/events/rural-broadband-workshop. The FCC also announced that, because it was closed on March 17, 2014 due to adverse weather conditions, all paper and electronic filings that were due on March 17, 2014 are now due on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, its next official business day. Additionally, March 17 does not count in computing filing periods of fewer than seven days since it was a holiday under FCC rules.
