July has become well known (and dreaded by many) in the telecom industry for its annual access filing deadlines. Of course, this year is no different as carriers position themselves to implement the first phase of their mandatory access reductions toward $0.0007. (See TMI Blog posting Further Switched Access Reductions Effective July 1, 2014 posted 4/1/14).
However, there are other less heralded changes brewing in July.
It’s the start of a new calendar quarter with over 80 state reports and invoices due. Regulatory changes abound as many state legislatures implement new statutes and state commissions adopt rule changes, many of which will become effective in July. Some July changes have already been announced. Still others are forthcoming over the next month and a half. And even more changes may be implemented as the legislatures wrap up their 2014 sessions.
Do you know which end-user surcharges are commonly revised each July?
Do you know which changes will require a tariff revision? A customer notice?
