Theft of mobile devices

The FCC announced that on October 28, 2014, it will host a live and online tutorial on how to protect smartphones and other mobile devices (and the data on them) from theft and misuse. The event is timed to arm consumers with key information about how to protect themselves in advance of the upcoming holiday season when consumers could be at greater risk while shopping in crowded public locations and sales of mobile devices are high. The event will start at 10 am and can be viewed at The tutorial will include: useful information about the variety of safeguards that are available today to protect personal information; practical tips on how and where to most safely use a smart device; and steps to take if your smart device is ever stolen.


Rural Broadband Experiments

In connection with its release of FCC Form 5610, the application form for the rural broadband experiments, the FCC issued detailed instructions for filling out the electronic bid form. The FCC said that applicants must follow these instructions in order to ensure that their bid forms are properly processed. Any bid forms not following these instructions may be rejected.
