Rural Call Completion
The FCC announced that NECA has made an updated list of rural and non-rural OCNs available. The NECA OCN lists are provided to facilitate compliance with the recordkeeping, retention, and reporting required by the FCC’s Rural Call Completion rules. The FCC also reminded carriers that these lists do not amend or limit the generally applicable prohibition on call blocking, which applies equally to all calls, regardless of whether the destination OCN appears on the NECA list of rural OCNs.
Special Access
The FCC updated its Frequently Asked Questions about the Special Access Data Collection. See our blog “FCC Releases December Update To Special Access Data Collection FAQs.”
Tech Fair
The FCC announced it will host a Small Business & Emerging Technologies Conference and Tech Fair on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The event will examine some of the challenges that tech start-ups face, as well as some of the more specific issues that often preclude technical innovation in the minority business community. It will include panel discussions on entity formation and incubation; early stage investment strategies; and a showcase of app designers, software/hardware manufacturers, and internet based business owners. The FCC will also host a “Fast Pitch” Program where tech entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to present their ideas/products to – and get feedback from – experts on launching and capitalizing new businesses. Persons interested in attending this informative event in person are asked to register by contacting OCBO at (202) 418-0990 or via e-mail at TechFair@fcc.gov. The event will be live-streamed on the FCC’s website.
