Disabilities Summit
The FCC released a working agenda for its October 28, 2015, Summit on the Telecommunications Needs of People with Cognitive Disabilities. The Summit will feature remarks by FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler as well as panels discussing: Communications Technologies For Independent Living; Emergency Preparedness/Living in the Community Safely; Ensuring and Funding Access to Equipment, Training, and Broadband; and Next Steps. There will also be an Expo with demonstrations of accessibility technologies.
Inflation Adjustments for Cable Operators
The FCC announced the inflation adjustment figures for cable operators using FCC Forms 1210 (annual) and 1240 (quarterly). For Form 1210 users, the inflation factor for the twelve months ended June 30, 2015 is 1.0096. This year’s inflation adjustment factor is calculated by dividing second quarter 2015 GNP-PI (109.778) by the second quarter 2014 GNP-PI (108.737). Operators may take this year’s inflation adjustment between October 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016. For Form 1240 users, the second quarter of 2015 inflation factor is 1.0210. The inflation adjustment factor is calculated by dividing the GNP-PI for the second quarter of 2015 (109.778) by the GNP-PI for the first quarter of 2015 (109.208). The result of this calculation is converted from a quarterly change measurement factor to an annual change measurement factor by raising it to the fourth power.
