NTIA
The National Telecommunications & Information Administration released its Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Quarterly Program Status Report on July 23, 2013. The Report states that, as of March 31, 2013, 182 BTOP projects remained in active status and 42 BTOP projects were completed. FCC
The FCC announced a tentative agenda for its Open Meeting scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2013. The FCC will consider: (1) a Report and Order addressing technical requirements applicable to unlicensed services in the 57-64 GHz frequency band to provide additional competition in the broadband market, improve efficient delivery of broadband services in residences and businesses, and facilitate backhaul transport to support the deployment of 4G and other wireless services; and (2) a Report and Order that streamlines Part 25 of the FCC’s rules to facilitate greater investment and innovation in the satellite industry and promote more rapid deployment of new satellite services to the public. The FCC will also receive a presentation from the Incentive Auction Task Force on progress towards its 2014 television broadcast incentive auction.
