Regulatory Monitoring list of state and federal telecom activitiy from TMI

The Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court, issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Regulatory Bulletin.

NEW YORK

The Public Service Commission will hold a public statement hearing on August 24, 2013, in Ocean Beach, NY. During the meeting, PSC Staff will provide a brief overview of the PSC’s interim measure authorizing Verizon to offer wireless Voice Link service as an alternative to basic landline service to certain customers on Fire Island where the copper wire facilities (see our blog dated 7/8/13) were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. Members of the public will have an opportunity to present comments concerning Verizon’s Voice Link Service on western Fire Island during the summer months. Formal comments may be submitted to the PSC until September 13, 2013.

NEVADA

The Public Utilities Commission has scheduled Consumer Sessions for September 16, 2013, at its Las Vegas office, and October 3, 2013, at the Washoe County District Health Department. The sessions are an opportunity for consumers to appear and be heard on any topic concerning a public utility regulated by the PUC. The sessions are being held because Nevada law requires the PUC to hold at least one general consumer session each calendar year in the counties with the largest and second-largest population within the state of Nevada. At each location sessions will be held at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
